LA 2010: Speaker Themes – Eric Bryant

With LA 2010 right around the corner, I will be posting specific ways that people are going to address our theme of discipleship. Title: Pre-Evangelism Discipleship: One of Mosaic’s Mentoring Methods

Talk in a Sentence: By allowing people to belong before they believe, pre-evangelism discipleship ensures a more mature and missional follower of Jesus once they do choose to follow Jesus.

Talk in a Paragraph: Mosaic strives to have a wide open front door for anyone who is interested in discovering more about God. At the same time, we have a very narrow funnel of mentoring in order to raise up leaders who oversee the lives of others. Through a look at the way Jesus invested in His twelve disciples along with examples from the ministry context of Los Angeles in 2010, I will discuss how allowing people to belong before they believe (pre-evangelism discipleship) ensures a more mature and missional follower of Jesus once they do choose to follow Jesus.

Eric Bryant – serves as an elder, speaker, and navigator with the leadership team at Mosaic in Los Angeles, a church known for its creativity and diversity. Eric serves as part of the core teams for the Mosaic Alliance and The Origins Project, a movement of people committed to Jesus, Humanity, and Innovation. Eric has taught at the Southern California campuses of Golden Gate Seminary and Fuller Seminary and earned his Doctorate of Ministry in Entrepreneurial Leadership with Bethel Seminary. His book, Not Like Me: A Field Guide for Influencing a Diverse World, is a guide for overcoming the negative Christian stereotype by embracing the people Christians “love to hate.”
