LA 2010: Speaker Themes – Deb Hirsch
With LA 2010 right around the corner, I will be posting specific ways that people are going to address our theme of discipleship. I will share the title of their talk, the talk in a sentence and the talk in a paragraph. For a full list of the speakers and details about this UNconference, check out this LA 2010 post. Please RSVP for this event on our facebook event page. We have a seating capacity, so those who register on facebook will have first priority. Here is what Deb Hirsch will be addressing.
Title: Evangelship
Talk in a Sentence: Redefining evangelism in the context of discipleship.
Talk in a Paragraph: We are called to disciple the nations. Why have we limited our ‘discipleship’ to Christians, within the context of the four walls of the church, and made it predominantly about issues of personal morality? The great commission frees us from this restrictive view of discipleship. Old models of Evangelism will look remarkably different if understood and redefined within the context of the great commission – and what if our role was to disciple everyone, everywhere – even if they are not aware of it?
