Discipleship Part XVIII

In this series of posts, I am sharing some short thoughts from each chapter of Dallas Willard’s book The Great Omission and then some brief personal reflections.

Chapter Seventeen: The Interior Castle
Dallas talks highly of Teresa of Avila’s classic The Interior Castle. In this book, Teresa encourages us to start on our path to transformation by “considering our soul to be like a castle made entirely out of a diamond or of very clear crystal, in which there are many rooms” (207). As we allow God to occupy each of these rooms, we then become radiant beings.

My Reflections
I want to be a “radiant being.” I need to think about each room in my castle and find a way to allow God’s presence to permeate it more. Which rooms in your castle are permeated by God the most? Which the least? Why?
