Raise up for us prophets
who will give us new sight for better seeing.

Raise up for us prophets
who will speak of the great things money can do
and so increase our altruism and diminish our greed.

Raise up for us prophets
who will identify the gifts the poor have to offer
and the presumption the wealthy have to forego.

Raise up for us prophets
who will condemn unjust money laundering
and extol the virtues of fair taxation.

Raise up for us prophets
who will spell out how heaven has no favorite color
and no favorite mother tongue.

Raise up for us prophets
who will say all the things that Jesus said
and speak with the urgency
of those who have glimpsed the coming of the Lord.
