In this series of posts, I am sharing some short thoughts from each chapter of Dallas Willard’s book The Great Omission and then some brief personal reflections.

Chapter Four: Looking Like Jesus
New life in God has a goal and a method.  The goal is to learn to be like Jesus, to have a kind of confidence in him that leads us to the same kind of faith he had.  The method is we enter into the transformative life through the “golden triangle” of accepting daily trials as friends, constantly interacting with God’s Spirit in and around us, and by engaging the spiritual disciplines, like silence, solitude, study and service.

Personal Reflection
I really like Willard’s emphasis on having the same kind of faith that Jesus had.  Spiritual disciplines have been a must for me, as well as sensing and living in God’s spirit.  Accepting trials as friends is sometime difficult, but I do know the perspective shapes us deeply.
